2022 News

Term 1

  • Engaged some new staff and Early Career Teachers in the refined induction process, including developing a support network.

  • Our Community of Schools group changed to include Blairmount Public School, Oxley Vale Public School and Sackville Street Public School.

2021 News

Term 4

  • Updated multimodal resources to support students, teachers and leaders using Hero to support the i See Learning project.

  • Included a 'Standard Spotlight' section in the fortnightly newsletter. This focused on Standard 5 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the AITSL illustrations of classroom practice with examples from the Hero software.

  • Engaged in some remote mentoring/coaching with trial teachers and in-school coordinators.

  • Developed generic and customisable resource packages for schools that incorporates all Departmental resources on quality assessment practices and staff induction processes.

  • Connected with the Schools Plus team to reflect on our achievements and next steps.

  • Networked across the Community of Schools at the CoS Connect where schools reflected on their current staff induction processes and explored the resources developed by the facilitator.

Term 3

  • Shifts in schooling processes and methods led to a pause in the i See Learning project

Term 2

  • Released a CoS resource developed by our trial teachers to share their implementation of Hero & reflections.

  • Additional collaborations with between session tasks for Learning and Support teams, Technology leaders and Aboriginal Education leaders to explore Hero capabilities & receive feedback.

  • Expanded in-school mentoring/coaching to teachers outside of the trial group with a focus on embedding learning goals into existing lesson sequences and creating opportunities for students to understand, practice and reflect on their learning goals.

  • Developed a sequential teacher implementation plan for the use of learning goals and Hero. This includes:

  1. Creating conditions for teacher & student use of learning goals.

  2. Allocating & monitoring learning goals in Hero without evidence & then with evidence.

  3. Teaching a small group of students to use Hero.

  4. Embedding opportunities for schools to post evidence to Hero weekly/fortnightly.

  5. Incorporating opportunities for students to share through Hero.

  6. Building student agency to self-allocate learning goals based on evidence and feedback.

  • Remote school support to assist with focus on embedding learning goals into program sequences.

  • Added tips for classroom implementation of learning goals and Hero to the fortnightly newsletter.

  • Learning Goals Collaboration to moderate exemplars to illustrate what success looks like for specific learning goals which will be added to Hero. An implementation plan was also developed for all users of exemplars, including leaders, teachers, students and families.

  • Updated Murat Dizdar, Deputy Secretary of School Performance, of our project and received permission to extend our trial until the end of 2021.

  • Engaged in our 3rd CoS Connect on learning goals and identified quality assessment practices as our next focus area.

  • Explored functions of Hero with Technology experts, Learning and Support teachers and Aboriginal Education leaders in collaborative Zoom sessions.

  • Supported the development of the NAPLAN conversion tool on Hero's website that will import NAPLAN results in Hero.

  • Collaborated with Schools Plus team in a mid-year reflection of our progress and next steps.

  • Engaged in our 4th CoS Connect where we explored the assessment-focused project strategies for the remainder of the year.

Term 1

  • Started our partnership with Schools Plus as recipients of a three-year Fair Education grant focusing on, "Shared visions, shared collaboration, shared knowledge, shared growth. Leveraging strength of a school cluster and innovation to enhance visible learning, student agency and community engagement." This led to rebranding of our project from 'NSW CoS Linc-Ed Hero Project' to 'i See Learning Project'. To see our vision and the research that drives us, click here.

  • Engaged with refresher PL based on staff feedback, with a focus on using Hero for allocating, monitoring & analysing learning goals. This also included a Q and A session with NZ leaders to support executive school planning.

  • Collected baseline data to explore the impact of our project on students, staff, leaders and families. Click here to see what we found out.

  • Collaborated in our 1st CoS Connect session where we explored how Hero can enhance reflective practice & data conversations.

  • Developed knowledge of Hero use in the classroom & in reflective practice sessions through in-school shoulder-to-shoulder mentoring/coaching support from the project facilitator.

  • Explored with principals our i See Learning project vision & how we could keep this vision strong, particularly through including elements in Strategic Improvement Plans.

  • Engaged in our 2nd CoS Connect session where we explored real-time reporting possibilities.
