School based apprenticeships & traineeships @ gphs
School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SBATs) are more than just part-time jobs, they’re a great way for students to set themselves up for the career they want while they are completing your HSC.
SBATs are available to all Year 10, 11 and 12 high school students in NSW. They allow students to commence an apprenticeship or complete a traineeship while at school.
An SBAT combines paid work, training, and school; and as well as an industry recognised national qualification, students will gain credit towards the HSC. Some SBAT's can contribute towards the ATAR.
It is the student's responsibility to source a host-employer during the school year prior to the year they want to commence an SBAT. For example, if a student wants to undertake an SBAT during Y11 & Y12, they must secure a host-employer before the end of Y10. When an employer has been secured, completing the attached document (Application to Establish an SBAT) is the first step in the process. Please fill this out and return it to our careers adviser.
