Nesa Updates
NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA) has responded to the Covid 19 pandemic by making decisions and changes regarding curriculum requirements and assessment tasks, with the aim of protecting the health and safety of students, parents and teachers. It is committed to providing clear and regular advice to address issues as they arise. It will update the community as soon as decisions are made.
So far, NESA has given principals and system authorities the power to determine the number, type and weighting of tasks for Year 11 and HSC school-based assessment. As a school, decisions to change and/or adapt school-based assessments will be made with the best interests of our students.
NESA has advised that all NSW schools to follow social distancing requirements when planning or undertaking school-based assessment tasks and this will have an impact on some practical based assessments at Chifley College Bidwill Campus.
The Higher School Certificate (HSC) exams are going ahead in 2020.
NESA has also given principals and school sectors the authority to decide which syllabus outcomes and content they teach and assess for Kindergarten to Year 10 in 2020.
Along with flexibility already available in the curriculum, this decision supports schools and teachers to develop teaching and learning programs for students as they progressively return to face-to-face learning at school.
