CREATIVE ARTS AUDITION BRIEF

RATIONALE

In order to most accurately identify the scholastic and artistic potential of prospective Creative Arts students, we have designed a Creative Arts brief. Prior to the audition the responsibility of the student is to explore and respond to this creative challenge. The practical artworks produced are intended to be a reflective, introspective or observational inquiry into the personal world of the developing student artist.

CREATIVE ARTS BRIEF

The concept chosen is based on “My World”

First Round VIDEO Audition

Students are required to create a work or series of works exploring the concept of “My World”. This needs to be presented as a video. Evidence of the progress of their artwork must be embedded into this video submission. For example: sketches or photographs that document and validate the developmental stages of their artwork.

The art works can be made from any medium e.g.: drawing, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, digital works, film, documented works and/or design objects.

In their “My world” video, students present their art work/s and address the following questions:

What materials and processes have been used to produce their "My World" artworks?

What ideas are being explored in their "My World" artwork/s?

What is the name of a favourite artist; please describe one of their artworks?

Additional Video requirements

The video is required to be 3-6 minutes in duration.

Ensure the verbal responses to the above questions in the video are audible and clear.

Record the audition video in a quiet room (not a large hall or outside).

Please review the audition video before sending and ensure that it is appropriate for audition.

Second Round LIVE STUDIO

Please note: Only students who were successful at First Round Video Auditions will be invited back for Second Round Live Studio

Students will be required to respond to a still life arrangement using their preferred medium i.e. paint, pencil, mix media or digital media. Note: A mandatory pencil illustration is required prior to media arts production.

Audition Length

2 Hours

Materials and Equipment

All materials will be supplied; however, students are most welcome to bring their digital device such as an ipad or camera.
