Premier's Spelling Bee
About
The annual Premier’s Spelling Bee was introduced in 2004 as a fun, engaging and educational way for NSW public school students in Years 3 - 6 to improve spelling and vocabulary while promoting literacy skills in combination with the English K-6 Syllabus.
Selection Process
All students in Years 3 - 6 are invited to participate.
The Program
The program commences in Term 2 at school level and continues throughout Terms 3 and 4 when the finals are held.
All students are invited to access online junior or senior spelling lists for private study and a range of engaging activities.
Students who wish to participate compete against students in their class to determine two top class spellers.
Top spellers from each class compete against other class champions in their stage to determine a junior and senior school champion
The junior and senior school spelling champions complete at regional level against other NSW public school primary students.
Benefits of the Program
Students have the opportunity to extend their spelling and vocabulary skills.
Students have the opportunity to compete against NSW public primary school students at class, stage and regional levels.
