Premier's Spelling Bee

About

The annual Premier’s Spelling Bee was introduced in 2004 as a fun, engaging and educational way for NSW public school students in Years 3 - 6 to improve spelling and vocabulary while promoting literacy skills in combination with the English K-6 Syllabus.

Selection Process

  • All students in Years 3 - 6 are invited to participate.

The Program

  • The program commences in Term 2 at school level and continues throughout Terms 3 and 4 when the finals are held.

  • All students are invited to access online junior or senior spelling lists for private study and a range of engaging activities.

  • Students who wish to participate compete against students in their class to determine two top class spellers.

  • Top spellers from each class compete against other class champions in their stage to determine a junior and senior school champion

  • The junior and senior school spelling champions complete at regional level against other NSW public school primary students.
