Buses will only be permitted to enter the Bus Zone to drop off students using Manchester Street via Oliver Lewis Way. Click here to plug in your location to get directions to the bus entrance. Consider alternative routes to alleviate traffic and shorten your wait time.
Lexington Police Department has instructed STLP and Central Bank Center that no buses may stop to unload along W. High Street or Main Street (outside of the venue). Please follow those instructions.
Buses will only be permitted to enter the Bus Zone to drop off students on Manchester Street via Oliver Lewis Way. Central Bank Center and Lexington PD will direct buses onto Manchester Street and will utilize the perimeter of the bus parking area beside CBC to form a loop and stage buses.
Multiple groups of buses will then be sent into the Bus Zone to unload students onto to loading docks. Students will walk around an established pedestrian perimeter to reach either of the two entrance ramps (students may not walk between buses).
For student safety, buses will unload and wait for CBC Security and Lex PD to signal that all students are safely clear of the Bus Zone. Only then will buses be allowed to exit the Bus Zone. The process will continue throughout the morning until all students are inside Central Bank Center.
Students will enter directly into Central Bank Center from the loading dock ramps. Once students are clear, empty buses will be sent back down Manchester Street and into the bus parking area. Many local school districts will see their buses returning to district for other runs throughout the day instead of parking.
If the primary bus parking fills up, overflow will be directed to the W. High Street lots (via W. Maxwell Ave.).
The final STLP Award Show will finish at 7pm. Buses should queue in the parking loop area and await their turn to enter the Bus Zone. Students will exit Central Bank Center via the same ramps used for drop off. Again, Lexington Police Department has informed CBC and STLP that stopping along W. High Street or Main Street to puck up students will not be tolerated.
2022 is our first year in this new Central Bank Center facility. We are learning many things along the way. However, with the potential of nearly 200 buses all descending on downtown Lexington in one morning will test the best of plans. We recognize the stress that will come with running late, after a long morning, and then hitting long lines of drop off traffic. Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience.
Several parking options are available to choose from in downtown Lexington; however, the High Street parking area is the most direct and adjacent of all the car/van parking options.
It's confirmed that for 2022, parking in the W. High Street lot will be FREE for STLP participants. Thanks to CBC for offering the parking option free of charge this year!. Directions to the W. High St. Parking Lot here.
You are not restricted to using the W. High Street Parking Lot. Schools and visitors are welcome to utilize any location of your choosing. For locating the various downtown parking options, consider this resource from DowtownLex.com
Plan Ahead for Traffic
On a normal morning, traffic in downtown Lexington can be heavy at times. Add in several thousand students from hundreds of schools bringing hundreds of buses into downtown and you must expect the routes to take longer than normal.
