The students are actively learning Tsemdru (traditional embroidery), a valuable skill that reflects Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage. Through this hands-on activity, they develop patience, concentration, creativity, and fine motor skills while carefully stitching intricate patterns. Learning Tsemdru also helps students appreciate and preserve traditional arts and crafts, fostering a sense of cultural identity and pride. Such practical experiences not only enhance their craftsmanship but also encourage perseverance and self-confidence in learning new skills.
The Tsemdru Club is coordinated by Mr. Sangay Chogyel, whose dedication and passion have been instrumental in promoting this traditional art among students. Although he has not attended any formal training in Tsemdru, he mastered the skill through his own interest, commitment, and continuous practice. Today, he generously shares his knowledge and expertise with students, inspiring them to learn and appreciate this valuable aspect of Bhutanese culture. His willingness to teach and mentor reflects his commitment to preserving and passing on traditional skills to the younger generation.
