SLOVENIA

Our school is a small school with kindergarten in Srednja Bistrica in the region Prekmurje, one of Slovenia’s socially and economically disadvantaged regions. We are providing primary education for 168 students from 6 to 14 years and kindergarten for 61 children from 1 to 6 years. There are 18 teachers and 8 educators. Our school participates in several local and national projects (Innovative pedagogics with the goal to implement IT into lessons, Financial Awareness etc.) and we have experience in cooperating with the school in international projects. We already participated in 2 Comenius projects (Countries and Stories, Medsebojni vplivi med človekom in naravo) and one Erasmus+ project (Seek and Find Nature). We are currently involved in a kindergarten Erasmus+ project. We are a well-equipped school with lots of expertise in IT and working with our local community and the community wider around us. In the previous Erasmus+ project, we started cooperation with institutions from outside school in relation to European values and the European Union. We hosted more round tables with members of National Parliament and European Parliament.

Aim of those round tables was to increase students' and parents' awareness on European Union content and of being a responsible citizen, including to enable them to see how they can be part of the society and how they can contribute to develop and build it. This is one goal we'd like to continue in this project with our partners and exchange our experience. We want to increase that kind of cooperation, put it on a higher level on a multidisciplinary ground with the aid of modern IT. In this project we also see a possibility to increase the quality of teaching, because we will be part of a cooperative network with outside local associations. In this way students will be more motivated for school's activities and this will have an impact on their learning results. Another very important point is international networking, it will give a possibility to exchange good practices among countries. The project will support the national curriculum and the vision of our school. Key person 1 Our assistant of the headmaster, who is a school counsellor, will coordinate this project process in own country and be responsible for steady, successful and collaborative work with all participating countries. Key person 2 Our IT teacher, who has strong experience in European programmes. He was the coordinator in our previous Erasmus+ project and he is the main coordinator of our ongoing Erasmus+ project. He will take over the coordination of the project in case of unexpected circumstances. Key person 3 – Our headmaster. She is an expert in teamworking and leading projects. She is also a teacher of a subject called Education for citizenship and ethics. All teachers and educators from the kindergarten will be integrated in this project – the topic will be discussed during the lessons and at extra curriculum activities.
