Enjoy!
Click through the photos to the left to see some more recent happenings, February 2024:
IB21 students had their Visual Arts Exhibition. The body of work is one of three assessment components to be completed as part of the IB subject's examination. The South Aula space was completely transformed into a welcoming gallery space. Each student's personal exhibition space had it's own aesthetic, exhibiting a unified body of work. Well done all of you! Here is a sampling of some of what was available to see.
Linnea is investigating super conducting junctions for her IB internal assessment at Chalmers.
We are in the planning phases to start up a new project with a school in Kenya. Student and teacher representatives visited Kenya over the "Sportlov" and below you can see some of their journey below.

A Moment of Applause for IB Hvitfeldtska!
Update February 24, 2023
I wanted to take a minute to highlight some really great stuff happening in IB Hvitfeldtska lately since we’ve been back this term!
January
We had visiting lecturers from Astra Zeneca and the University of Gothenburg talking to Psychology and Chemistry students about Animal Research. Wow! Maybe next year they can come back and talk to all students as part of Theory of Knowledge?! This could be a great way to explore ethics within the TOK framework, for example. We are so lucky Marit and Sue have both the connections and the motivation to arrange for this special kind of lecture.
2nd Open House. The IB Student Ambassadors, DP Coordinator and our CAS Coordinator once again have shown themselves to be great role models for the IB program by participating and talking to interested students and their families. Thank you! We are lucky in that we continue to have a great reputation and many students apply to us. No doubt this is due to the talent and engagement already here. I’m looking forward to welcoming more talented and engaged students next school year!
Subject selection and University Information: PreDP students have gone through the subject selection process and it has been enhanced this year with loads more information and scaffolding. Thanks to all who helped. This website was developed to help both current and potential students: https://sites.google.com/educ.goteborg.se/ib-hvitfeldtska/subject-selection-for-diploma-program
I could see adding Student Testimonials regarding the importance of subject selection. Just talk to me if you are interested to be highlighted there.
The Study and Career Counselor has been out or will be out soon to Year 2 and 3 to talk about University applications and things to consider and know about. Be sure you are part of her Google Classroom, where there are more resources and checklists for you. Remember, if you know you will apply to a Uni abroad, please complete this form asap (if you haven’t already): https://forms.gle/NbxrkXKstwwbSsmY9

February
Trip to Kenya! Spearheading both the project and the trip was Kerstin Jannerberg. Those who travelled were Psychology teacher Marit Melroos Levin, our leaving school nurse Karin Gimbringer, our substitute school nurse Tove Karlsson, and IB20 students Arvid Hansson, and Thea Sabirsh.
To read about their trip, follow them on Instagram: “Kenyatrip2023”
This trip brought to close a long-standing and symbiotic project with another school and friends in Kenya. We were lucky to have been a part of a learning relationship with them!

Did you go? Did you see it? There was a wonderful turnout to see the annual exhibition of final year Diploma students that happened February 23rd from 1600-1900 in the South Aula. The IB20 students’ work was beautiful and inspiring. Also worth noting is how incredibly they worked as a team to put up and take down the exhibition so skillfully with their teacher Eric Saline!
