Equity
What we do:
In Preston Lodge High School we are acutely aware of the hidden costs of the school day and, as a result, aim to remove financial barriers wherever possible.
All course costs for Home Economics/CDT have been removed to ensure all pupils have equal access to these subjects.
The Art department have art packs available for those studying the subject in S3 and the senior phase to provide materials for pupils to work at home.
The Music department have instruments that can be loaned out to pupils who are studying music in the senior phase to enable them to practice at home.
The school has a breakfast club, free of charge to all pupils each morning from 8am. This provides a selection of fruit juice, toast and fresh fruit.
Dress up/dress down days now have an optional donation to ensure pupils are not priced out of participating.
All students and families are able to access the Community Fund which seeks to provide help with the cost of schooling. This can include contributions towards the cost of things like school trips, transport, subject resources, and school uniform. Grants are expected to be in the region of £10 to £50, but all applications are considered on an individual basis. Applications can be made by students, families, staff, and members of the wider community.
Epraise, the school’s positive behaviour system, has materials available for purchase with house points so no financial cost
