What is National 5 PE?
Throughout National 5, pupils will look to develop their knowledge of the 4 factors that impact on performance – Physical, Emotional, Mental and Social. Whilst looking at all 4 factors, you will look to develop your knowledge of gathering information on the 4 factors, develop understanding of different approaches to development the 4 factors and be able to identify how to successfully monitor your own performance.
Course Assessment
The National 5 P.E. course is assessed in two parts. Portfolio tests your knowledge and understanding of the theoretical components of the course. Performance involves you being assessed in two different activities.
The Portfolio tests your knowledge and understanding of the theoretical components of the course. It revolves around four factors (emotional, mental, physical and social) that can move through the cycle of analysis as you seek to understand and develop your performance in one activity.
As previously stated, it is scored out of 60 marks and divided into three sections. Each section focuses on a different area and is sat under certain conditions:
The Performance component of the course involves you being assessed in two different activities.
Both of these assessments are considered a 'one-off'; you are assessed in a single performance event and how you perform on that day determines your score.
Each of these assessments are scored out of 30 marks. You will be assessed in the following areas:
Skill repertoire (8 marks)
Control and fluency (6 marks)
Cognitive skills (6 marks):
