Loretto RC Primary School is a medium sized denominational primary school with a current roll of 212 (191 within the school and 21 in the nursery) serving the communities of Musselburgh, Whitecraig and Wallyford.
The school has eight primary classes and a nursery.
The management team in the school consists of a Head Teacher and a full time Principal teacher.
The Support for Learning teacher works 2 days a week on a Tuesday and a Wednesday and has responsibility for strategic planning for teaching and learning and targeted personalised support. She also coordinates the support staff and is responsible for referrals and support plans.
The school has 8 permanent class teachers with a job share in P1. There are currently 4 support staff members in school – 1 ASN auxiliaries and 3 Classroom assistants (one who supports in P1&P2 and one who supports P3-P7 and a third who supports throughout the school).
The office team of Business Support Administrator and School Auxiliary work closely and efficiently together. There are also visiting Music and PE specialist teachers and a visiting Brass Instructor.
The school has benefited from working closely with Loretto Parent Partnership and has strong links with the local parish.
