About me - Ms Waters
Hello! My name is Ms Waters and I am delighted to be teaching Primary 5 this year. I taught in Edinburgh for many years before moving to East Lothian and joining Letham Mains in 2023, which has allowed me to enjoy teaching within my local community. In my spare time, I love walking my lively Labrador and attending art classes🐕🎨. My favourite subjects to teach are art, numeracy and writing.
Here you can find updates about our learning and snapshots of what we get up to during the week!
In groups, to show what we've been learning, we acted out the stages of the water cycle, and narrated what happened during evaporation, transpiration, condensation and precipitation. Nice acting, P5!
Primary 5 have been learning about the rainforest water cycle and have made their own 'rainforests in a bottle'. We have used gravel, charcoal, compost and plants to demonstrate the transpiration, condensation, precipitation cycle. No watering required!
P5 enjoyed their weekly library time this week, sharing stories and relaxing and reading with friends.
P5 have painted these beautiful Easter Bunnies using a sponge printing technique. We added plant and flower details using white acrylic paint - don't they look amazing against the black card!
Engineer Visit! Monday 9th March
We were very lucky to have a visit from one of our P5 family members who is a mechanical engineer. Juliette Goddard talked to us about her job and what an engineer does. We learned all about the skills an engineer needs, the design process, and how engineers solve problems. Juliette gave us a problem to design a solution for - we designed a solution, tested it, then we improved it, tested it again and improved it some more.... and had fun with paper planes! Many thanks to Juliette for giving up her time to help us understand more about being an Engineer!
