All about me - Miss Findlay
Hello! I am Miss Findlay and I am a newly qualified teacher this year. I am delighted to be teaching Primary 3 this year! In my free time I enjoy going on walks, going to the gym and reading📚🏋️♀️🌱. My favourite thing to teach is topic because we can cover so many different things!
Here is what we having been getting up to in Primary 3...

World Book Day!📚
P3B had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day, with the class arriving in an array of brilliant costumes representing some of their favourite book characters. We began our morning with some quiet reading time in the school library, giving everyone the chance to enjoy a story in a calm and cosy space. We took part in a whole‑school “Stop, Drop and Read” when the bell rang, which the children were very excited about. We also had the opportunity to share our favourite books with pupils from different year groups during our pupil forum, helping to build confidence and spark conversations about reading. Back in class, we rounded off the day with a fun book quiz that tested our knowledge of stories and characters. It was a wonderful day full of enthusiasm, creativity, and a real love of reading. Thank you to all families for the fantastic effort put into the costumes - they made the day extra special.
Please enjoy some costume snaps!📸
Active Spelling Fun!✍️
Every Thursday, Primary 3B take part in active spelling stations to consolidate their spelling words for the week. This time, we had a playdough station where the children created their words from memory, and a sand‑tray station where they formed each word with their fingers. Our Chromebook station (lots of excitement around Chromebooks at the moment😊!) let them listen to their words and spell them correctly. Finally, we had a chalk‑pen station where the children could elegantly ‘graffiti’ the desks with correctly spelled words. The engagement from the class was incredible.

Hot and Cold Places Topic🌡️❄️
Primary 3 have been diving into our topic on hot and cold places, and the class has loved exploring the world around them. We began by looking at a world map, talking about the different continents, and learning the difference between continents and countries. From there, we explored three main climates - tropical, arctic and temperate - and discovered the kinds of animals that live in each one. A big focus has been on animal adaptations: what they are, why they matter, and how they help animals survive in their environments. The children worked in groups to research the adaptations of their chosen animal, complete a matching activity, and then ‘become the teacher’ by sharing their learning with the rest of the class. We are now moving into a country‑based research project, and the children are incredibly engaged and excited to find out more about the climate, weather and wildlife of their chosen place.
