Today we had our first reading café of p2b. Our class joined up with pupils from p4b to relax and read some books together. It was lovely to see pupils from both classes smiling and laughing together as they read to each other and talked about their books. Today was also the first time they used some of our new wordless picture books, these allowed all pupils to discuss what they thought was happening in the story, paying close attention to the thought provoking pictures.
As part of their Animal Habitats topic, P2b visited a local area of woodland with the East Lothian Ranger service. They explored sounds that could be heard in the woods, creating a sound map. The also discussed seasons and what that looked like in the woodland and the impact on animals’ habitats. Pupils did a hunt to find and match leaves from a variety of trees then used magnifying glasses to look at bugs and insects. Finally, they visited a badger set.
