11 beats of a lonely heart
10 seconds counted from up high
9 letters written, to tell them why
8 cold gusts of evening wind
7 voices shout, now in the din
6 sirens calling, wailing loud
5 hundred feet until the ground
4 quick stumbles to the edge
3 seconds now, there’s no one left
2 voices, one upon each shoulder
1 fire, in which my love did smolder
0 air within my lungs
Regret, too late, I grasp at rungs
A scream rips out, but when it ends
I hope I’ll see my love again.
Ellie McKenzie
Red of cloak and red of heart,
A creature lurking in the dark.
Black of fur and black of night,
A girl’s heart pounding, bursts from fright.
Brown of basket, swinging wild,
A lonely, frightened little child.
Grey of trees and grey of fog,
A shadow lurking in the bog.
Yellow of eyes and yellow of tooth,
A monster preying on full youth.
Green of grass and green of leaves,
A young girl screaming as she flees.
Blue of sky and blue of blood,
A trip, a fall, a mind gone dud.
White of daisy, white of lies,
As It does feast below dark skies.
Pink of skin and pink of hood,
A creature slinks back into the wood.
Orange of fruit, rolling ‘round,
Yet another girl ne’er to be found.
Author’s note: this is a poem inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, and is a representation of the monsters in humanity.

Il rosso trafigge lo skyline
The marble floor glimmers as you walk
The choirs hymns echo as they sing
The whispers, silenced as you enter
The dome rounds the sky, with a needle
Puncturing the clouds, a sight you’re unable to miss
For being in this building can only be described as bliss
The lights glow for evermore
Michelangelo' s Magnum Opus, the
Painting, shows a judgement, of all people
The goats sent to eternal fire
But in this cathedral, none are goats
None are sheep, you’re only equals
For you have witnessed a sight
A sight beyond being bound to religious chains
Zuccaris’ designs, Vasaris’ completion
A task not fit for one person
The pride of Firenze
The pride of the people
No cathedral compares to the
Bellezza di Santa Maria del Fiore
