Road Ecology Book

Road Ecology: Synthesis and Perspectives.

Edited by Marcello D’Amico, Fernando Ascensão and Rafael Barrientos

This will be one of the most important books in Road Ecology, a discipline that aggregates and intersects many of the Ecology disciplines, namely Animal Biology, Numerical Ecology, Terrestrial Ecology, Biodiversity and Conservation, Landscape Ecology, Population Dynamics, Animal Movement, or Environmental Monitoring.

The book comprises almost 60 chapters by more than 100 authors from all over the world and aims to provide an overview of the knowledge acquired in multiple aspects of this discipline, combined with the perspectives of each author(s) regarding future research paths for different topics. In particular, the different impacts related to transport (and energy) infrastructure; the geographic specificities of each region of the globe; impacts on different organisms (plants, invertebrates, and vertebrates); and emerging themes, namely new technologies, economy, geopolitics, developing countries, among others.

The publisher is SPRINGER, which launched the challenge to the three editors in 2019.
