Time Commitments:
- You must spend approximately one hour per week for each section of the Award.
- For the Bronze Award, you need to spend three months doing each section, plus an additional three months for your favourite section.
- You will need to commit to training for the Adventurous Journey (first aid, camp craft, map work) during lunch breaks or after school
- You will also need to go on two Adventurous Journeys (one practice journey and one qualifying journey).
Getting Started
- To start the Award you should work with your Award leader to choose your activities in all four sections. There is no set syllabus, so you need to choose activities that can sustain your interest over a long period of time, and that are new and challenging.
- For each section, you should set goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely:
- For each activity chosen, you must, with the help from your Award leader, choose an adult who is knowledgeable and experienced in that activity and can act as your Assessor. This person cannot be an immediate relation, and must be approved by your Award leader.
Completing a section activity
- You must record your section goals, log each weekly activity and uploading supporting evidence, such as photos, into the Online Record Book (ORB).
- Once you've pursued your activity for the minimum time period, your Assessor will then sign off in your ORB.
- You will qualify for your medal once you have completed all four sections, and satisfactory completion is confirmed by your Award leader.
