Graduation Requirements

There are three sets of requirements for graduation:

  1. Create a High School and Beyond Plan

  2. Earn required and elective credits

  3. Meet a graduation pathway that aligns to your High School and Beyond Plan

Credit Requirements

* Personalized Pathway Requirements: Up to 3 credits chosen by a student, that are included in a student’s High School and Beyond Plan, and that prepare the student to meet specific post-secondary career or education goals.

** Some of these requirements may be waived or adjusted. Please see your counselor for more information.

Graduation Pathways

In addition to completing the required credits and developing a High School and Beyond Plan, students are required to complete at least one graduation pathway to be eligible for graduation. These graduation pathways are defined by the state and are intended to match students' post-high school plans with indicators that they are ready to pursue their plans for higher education, technical education, or career after graduation. Many students will complete more than one graduation pathway during their high school experience.

Students planning to join the military or enter certain career and technical fields should plan to meet or exceed cutoff scores on the ASVAB.

Students planning to enter other career and technical fields should plan to complete a Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway of at least two credits in a sequence that meets certain criteria.

Students planning to attend a college or university should plan to meet requirements in both English Language Arts and Math using the pathways below:

  • Meet or exceed state cutoff scores on state assessments (Smarter Balanced or WA-AIM)

  • Meet or exceed state cutoff scores on the SAT or ACT

  • Earn a C+ or higher in certain AP classes or meet or exceed state cutoff scores on AP exams for those courses

  • Complete certain Dual Credit classes

  • Complete a Bridge to College class

Students may combine different pathways for ELA and math to meet this requirement.
