Learning Methodology

"...The mode of operation adopted in the area of social and economic development, in common with other areas of Bahá’í activity, is one of learning in action. When efforts are carried out in a learning mode—characterized by constant action, reflection, consultation, and study—visions and strategies are re-examined time and again. As tasks are accomplished, obstacles removed, resources multiplied, and lessons learned, modifications are made in goals and methods. The learning process, which is given direction through appropriate institutional arrangements, unfolds in a way that resembles the growth and differentiation of a living organism. Haphazard change is avoided, and continuity of action maintained."

Office of Social and Economic Development at the Bahá’í World Centre - 2012

After a year of research, implementation, and reflection, we have consolidated the method we use in building sustainable and effective service projects.

UNAtions operates in a learning mode. We promote knowledge and help empower world citizens in building a better world.

The premisses we act upon are described below:

  • Study: In this phase, we are researching and gathering materials to consolidate an informed opinion.

  • Consult/Plan: Soon after, we go to the field (virtually or not) and survey the community on their demands and priorities. Using our previous knowledge and current situation, we plan accordingly to offer our sister schools the best solution.

  • Act: In this part, we deliver the workshop, consultation, or any other type of service required. We request feedback to help improve our practice.

  • Reflect: The final and of great importance is the reflection piece. We ponder upon all the steps and areas to improve as a team and as individuals.

The cycles superpose themselves, meaning when we deliver the "Act" part on our side, the sister school process begins at "Study." After two cycles, the sister school is then in charge of selecting topics they feel comfortable to lecture and start their knowledge and empowerment cycles serving as a hub of improvement for their local communities.
