Social Studies

- Draw a picture of a bank that you have seen in your community
- Let’s write! Even if banks look different on the outside, they all have an important purpose. Choose a question to write about or a sentence starter to complete!

- People use banks to…
- Additional ideas:
- Create your own bank at home!
- Decide what your bank would look like on the outside.
- You can use fake money from a game (like Monopoly money) or create your own money using paper.
- Ask your parents or siblings to come visit your bank.
- Play a game that uses fake money and be the bank teller throughout the game.
- Examples: Monopoly, Life, etc…
- Math Extension: Ask your parents if you can help count the money in their wallets.
- Math Extension: Identify the different coins you would find in a bank and how much each is worth.

STEM
Learning Goal:
I can design a variety of solutions to a problem.
Estimated Time for The Week:
45 minutes - 1 hour
Materials:
- Matchbox cars
- A level table
- Tinker supplies (magnets, straws, tape, balloons, string, paper, fan, etc.)
Learn & Practice:
- Listen to the story Pete the Cat: Go, Pete, Go!
- The Challenge: Using a variety of tinker supplies, race your car from one end of the table to the other. This can be a head to head race or simply who can make it to the end.
- The Rules: You may not touch your car or alter the track. You also cannot lift the table. Use your imagination and do not give up!
- Revisit your design. Can you improve it? Try using other supplies and observe and compare outcomes.
