This month in music, 5th graders will be starting with a small group composition project where they will create an original song with a drum beat, ukulele chord progression, and xylophone or keyboard melody.
Once that project is completed, we will begin learning to play basic chords on the guitar, starting with the song "Sunflower".

This month in music, 5th graders are working on playing the ukulele, which is review for most of them from 4th grade. On the ukulele we are focusing on the following skills:
-Playing in time
-Playing the chords C, E minor, A minor, G, F, and D minor
-Reading lead sheets and chord diagrams
-Understanding the form of songs - verse, chorus, and bridge
-Performing songs with multiple parts
Some songs we're working on are:

-Count on Me (Bruno Mars)
-Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2 (Pink Floyd)
