3rd grade

September

Welcome back to school! As the new year begins, 3rd graders will be reviewing and practicing skills and concepts that they learned last year in second grade. We will be reviewing the music literacy concepts that students learned last year and focusing on singing development. Students will review expectations for playing instruments and start to play instruments in the classroom such as percussion and xylophones. Of course students will also have many opportunities to play, dance and move as they get back into the routines of the school year.

Some of the main learning goals for this month are:

• I will be able to read, identify, and play rhythms using tikka-tikka.

• I will be able to read, sing and recognize the pitches do, mi, so and la.

• I will be able to play simple instrumental accompaniments to songs on percussion or xylophones.
