September

Welcome back to school! As the new year begins, 2nd graders will be reviewing and practicing skills that they learned last year as first graders. Your student will be practicing moving with music to express different concepts, and reviewing how to read rhythms and pitches. Students will review expectations for playing instruments and start to make music with instruments as well. Of course, music class will also include many opportunities to sing, play and dance, as students settle into classroom and school routines once more.

Some of the specific learning goals for this month include:

• I will be able to read and sing songs and patterns using mi, so and la.

• I will be able to read, write, identify by hearing, and play on instruments rhythms using ta, ti-ti, and rest.
