Hive Support

With rapidly changing information, and social distancing and the near-constant exposure to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s ok if you feel uneasy or not yourself right now – and chances are you’re not the only one feeling this way.

Below are several resources that may assist in supporting you and your family during this time.

A special message from Kenny the Koloa to kids during ACT COVID-19 lockdown 2021.

A message for children in the ACT about COVID and lockdown

How are you going in lockdown and with home schooling? Are you happy or bored? We all feel different when things change. Here is a message for Canberra kids from Jodie- Griffiths Cook, our Commissioner for Children and Young People. Jodie explains some things about COVID and the lockdown, and who to talk to if you’re worried or unhappy.

Here is the first edition of a newsletter for children and young people in the ACT with information about COVID and the current lockdown.

Jodie- Griffiths Cook, our Commissioner for Children and Young People is also super keen to hear from children and young people about how they are doing in lockdown, what information they want, and any supports they need. Kids can share their views through the Young Thinker Forum, or email Jodie actkids@act.gov.au

The ACT Government has partnered with VolunteeringACT and the State Emergency Service to provide emergency food to those in need. Any Canberran who is significantly and adversely impacted by this 7-day lockdown and is unable to feed their family, is encouraged to call 1800 43 11 33. Callers will be linked with a VolunteeringACT staff member who will place a shopping order on their behalf and members of the SES will then collect the order and deliver it to them. The SES are unable to enter a person’s home, so the groceries will be left on the doorstep after a knock at the door.

OneLink provides information and connections for support services in the ACT, including services for families and young people, and services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
