Building Foundations
This course provides students with the opportunity to learn and develop a range of trade-based skills such as carpentry, surveying and bricklaying. This has been designed for students who are interested in exploring potential pathways and employment within the construction industry. This comprises both practical and theory lessons. Students will be exposed to many of the skills involved with trades in the construction industry and learn skills such as safe use of hand and power tools, reading plans and conducting measurements and calculations. Students are introduced to the key work skills and Workplace Health and Safety requirements of the trades industry.

Focus will be on the various elements of the design cycle to plan, construct and evaluate a variety of projects. Students will investigate their creative potential using different textile mediums to add designs to their projects.
