2020-2021 Brown-Barge Bands Course Description

The objective of band is to provide a large instrumental ensemble for students to experience all aspects relative to the performance of varying levels of band music. The ensembles will perform standard musical repertoire of an artistic and educational nature. Students will have the opportunity to audition for the Escambia All-County Band. They will also be given the opportunity to perform at Solo and Ensemble during the second semester. Details will be provided at a later date.

Students will perform two to three evening concerts per school year. The 6th grade band will perform a short Fall concert to demonstrate the skills learned up to that point. All band students will perform a concert in December, and an additional concert in the Spring. The concert dates will be provided at a later date. These performances are held outside of the regular school day. It is important that all students be present for the concerts. The Pull-Out band will also perform for our Music Performance Assessment in March.

Students will be exposed to a wide variety of compositional styles through performance. Students will also be engaged in major scales, rhythmic dictation, music history, and music theory throughout the course.
