The I Poem

In an attempt to have students experiment with poem writing, an activity called " The I Poem" was done in class. The activity consisted of each student writing his own poem, however, following a certain pattern and fixed instructions for each of the poems lines.

Although all poems followed the same guidelines, they each turned out very unique and interesting. Some of the poems could really describe the personality and views of the authors.

Below you will find a collection of "I poems", each of them presented in a particular way.

I am

Sunshine, Stars, the Universe

I like spending time on my own and time with my friends

Kindness, Openness and Warmth are important to me

I appreciate the good things in life

I am not as understanding as I would like to be

But I try to be more open every day

I have hope for the world and humanity

I find pleasure in helping others

I like understanding the world around me

Time, trees and thunder

I like silence, but not for too long

Respect, Open Mindedness and Honesty are important to me

I find satisfaction in expressing myself in artistic ways

My thoughts can be dangerous to me,

But I try not to give in so easily

But with my rhetoric I shall gain its simpathy

My favourite is niguiri

Although I can enjoy some tuna sashimi

I will always, spiritually, be in cohesion with the Japanese
