Today was our first full day of the cruise. I woke up around 6:50 am to the smell of pancakes and bacon and boy did that pull me out of bed. After breakfast, the rest of the morning was spent fishing, listening to music, and of course, napping. We arrived to our first site at 12:30, and the professors slowly led us through both the CTD, to measure multiple water parameters, and multi core, to collect sediment. It felt so good to finally arrive at our first site and get involved in the science I had been looking forward to. After getting muddy (which is the best part), we had a few hours of down time where the day shift played some golf, the card game. After beating Dr. Schwing, we headed back to the deck to complete another site and enjoy a beautiful sunset. Overall this day has been so much fun and informative, and I can’t wait for tomorrow!
