UDL Self-Reflection Matrix
Module 6
Module 6
Artifact Introduction:Â
This module contains my UDL Self-Reflection Matrix that examines a lesson previously presented in my accessibility hyperdoc from Module 5. I used this matrix to evaluate that lesson to determine the level of compliance with the UDL principles, and ways I could modify the lesson to improve accessibility.
Module 6 Objectives/Goals:
Explore the topic of UDL (Universal Design for Learning) by researching the fundamental principles and ways to ensure compliance.
Use the UDL Self-Reflection Matrix to evaluate one of your existing artifacts or another lesson you have created to determine the level of compliance and modifications that can be made to make the learning more accessible for all.
Reflection:
I enjoyed using the UDL Self-Reflection Matrix to evaluate my accessibility hyperdoc from Module 5 because it allowed me to take a lesson I have actually taught and dissect it to determine its compliance with the fundamental principles of UDL. I took into consideration students in my class with disabilities and determined how I could modify the existing lesson to make it more accessible for those students. Upon dissecting my lesson I realized that I was already unknowingly utilizing some of the UDL principles when planning my lessons, but there was still much more that I could do. I found this process to be very enlightening and rewarding, prompting me to be more cognizant of my students' individual needs when planning and teaching going forward.
