Lesson Plans with Technology Intergration
These learning designs required me to work with a group of my peers to practice using the Backwards Design approach to plan a lesson that made meaningful use of technology and digital tools to enhance learning. We collaborated with each other via group text and Zoom to share ideas and come up with a finished product that proposed incorporating technology aligned with ISTE Standard 1.6 Creative Communicator. It was both a challenging and rewarding experience!
My first individual learning design is focused on both ELA and Science standards, as well as the ISTE Standard 1.3 Knowledge Constructor. Students will research various birds to learn about their body parts and functions using primary and secondary sources. I incorporated technology through the use of online research platforms, Google Docs, and the Thinglink educational media website. Students will use Google Docs to publish their finished reports and Thinglink to create a 2D or 3D diagram of a bird and it's parts and functions.
My second individual learning design is focused on Math standards, and the ISTE Standard 1.4 Innovative Designer. Students will use their knowledge of 3D shapes and their attributes to design and create a three-dimensional structure. They will use the Tinkercad design software to create a digital model of their design. Then they will use their design and house-hold items or items around the classroom to make their creation come to life. Once finished, students will use Screencast-o-matic to record an explainer video about their creation.

During the learning design process we used the PICRAT matrix to help us evaluate the purpose and role technology would play in the lessons we planned. The ultimate goal was to aim for the CT quadrant or Creative & Transformative because it would allow students to demonstrate their creativity while transforming traditional teaching practices.
We were also introduced to the TPACK model which outlines the types of knowledge teachers need in order to successfully intergrate technology into their teaching practices. The center of the Venn diagram is the goal because it combines all 3 forms of knowledge.
