As site technology facilitator for Glen Oaks Magnet High School, Mrs. Anding is more than happy to assist faculty members with learning how to integrate technology into their teaching. In June 2020, Mrs. Anding was honored to be named a Google for Education Certified Trainer by Google, and she is also a Nearpod Certified Educator and a Clever Champion. Mrs. Anding also puts virtual trainings on her YouTube channel for teachers to watch on their own time.
Some of Mrs. Anding's YouTube playlists are specifically geared towards faculty members who might needs assistance with implementing technology into instruction. Some of the videos are made by her, while others are curated from other sources. A sample video is shown below.
One of the fastest growing ways to learn new technology has become the use of digital badges and certifications. There are numerous digital badges and certificates that are now being offered from educational learning management systems. The great thing about digital badges and certifications is that they are issued by the company as proof that they think you have the skills needed to successfully use their product. This takes out the middle person of traditional professional development, which usually involves a representative of the company teaching one person, who then teaches someone from each school, who then finally teaches their staff at a later date. As the person receiving the information you know that none of the information has been lost along the way! Digital badges in particular can be displayed on your email signature, website, and more. Mrs. Anding has posted some of her digital badges at the top of this webpage as an example.
Are you interested in this type of professional development but do not know where to begin? Consider playing Mrs. Anding's "BadgeUp Bingo!" over the next year or two. Consider making BINGO as a future professional growth plan or as a personal goal. Look at the second page to research the possibilities on the BINGO card. (All icons are hyperlinked.) The red star is there to draw your attention to the multiple smaller G Suite for Education training sessions that can be done relatively quickly if they are not ready to go for the complete Educator certifications. These training sessions might results in a certificate rather than a digital badge but they are an excellent way to rapidly gain Google skills.
Several teachers will be trained to implement World Wise i3000 into their curriculum. The training tutorials from Worldy Wise can be found online. We will also go over them in a training session.
