Every student in the district is entitled to a Chromebook to complete remote learning this year. Our school will be using the G Suite for Education platform to promote remote learning, which means that the majority of a classroom's information and assignments will come to a student through Google Classroom. Chromebooks and chargers are checked out to an individual student through the district's Destiny catalog system. If a student drops from a school for whatever reason, they will then be required to return the Chromebook and charger to the school that issued it to them. Chromebooks are inventoried to the individual school so another school will not be able to accept it. While it is understood that there will be normal wear and tear to the Chromebooks, especially those that are nearing the end of their life cycle, students are still expected to keep them in good working order. Problems that truly arise from user error such as broken screens from being dropped, keys that have been rearranged on the keyboard, etc. can result in a damage fee being assessed to the student's account in the catalog system. Students can also be charged if they lose their Chromebook.
The hub for everything related to remote learning and technology for the district is being placed on EBR Technology's new website. It would be a great idea for everybody in the district to bookmark this website for easy access. On this website you can access information about connecting to community hotspots, find Chromebook troubleshooting tips, and the new IT Help Desk ticket system where faculty AND families can put in technology problem tickets.
