Dear Parents/Carers
This week, we have been talking about our transition to Year 1 and looking at photographs of the Year 1 classrooms. The children have enjoyed discussing what they are looking forward to and asking questions about the changes ahead.
We have also been learning about summer and the signs of the season. The children enjoyed making special cards for important people in their families to celebrate this Sunday.
In Maths, we have been exploring odd and even numbers. We have been identifying odd and even numbers, sorting numbers into groups, and investigating patterns. The children noticed that even numbers can be shared equally into two groups with no leftovers, while odd numbers always leave one remaining. We have also explored number patterns and discovered that odd and even numbers alternate as we count forwards.
Sports Day
We are really looking forward to this year's Sports Day, which will take place on Wednesday 24th at 1:30pm on the school field.
As in previous years, the children will take part in a carousel of activities. Team Nidd will stay together and be led by Mrs Murray, and Team Swale will stay together and be led by Miss Slinn.
We will not be asking children to wear a specific coloured T-shirt. Their usual PE kit will be absolutely fine. However, if you have already purchased a coloured T-shirt to match an older sibling in KS1 or KS2, or if your child would like to wear a coloured T-shirt, they are very welcome to do so.
If the weather is warm, please remember to apply sun cream to your child before school and send them with a sun hat. We will ensure the children have access to their drinks throughout the afternoon and will take water bottles out onto the field with us.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to your child's class teacher.
Thank you for your support.
Have a lovely weekend!
The Reception Team
