What a busy first week back. The children have come back ready to learn and what an experience some of our children had at Young Voices!
We hope the children have a wonderful, restful half term.
Coming up next week:
English: the children will continue to write a persuasive letter about Electronic waste to Keir Mather. Keir will be visiting the children on Friday next week.
Maths: Year 5 - the children will be continuing to look at calculating area.
Year 6 - will be looking at fractions, decimals and percentages
Curriculum: Our new topic is ‘How is the world connected?’.
This week we will focus on What are natural resources and where do they come from?
Science: Y5- To know that some materials will dissolve in liquid to form a solution and describe how to recover a substance from a solution
Y6-To know that some materials will dissolve in liquid to form a solution and describe how to recover a substance from a solution
PSHE: Year 5 will look at peer pressure
Year 6 will continue to focus on social media, with a focus on how online messaging can make people feel.
Homework:
Reading: the children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown up.
Spelling: the children need to complete at least 5 spelling games per week.
Maths: the children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars a minimum of 3 times a week.

Low Mill residential information evening on Tuesday 5th March
3:30pm-4pm or 5:30pm-6pm
Violin performance on Tuesday 27th February
On Tuesday 27th February, Team Calder invite parents, carers and grandparents to join us in the hall for our very first violin concert.
The performance will begin at 9:30am and doors will open at 9:25am and will last no longer than 30 minutes.
