STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 13th December 2024
Dear Families,
We have had a wonderful week in school with our very youngest children performing their Christmas Nativity. The children have done a fantastic job and have brought Christmas to life! Next week we will see performances from children in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two and we very much look forward to them. Thank you to all of our families who donated so generously into the buckets at the end of the performances this week, such donations make a significant difference to additional resources we can provide for our children in school.
Next week we will say goodbye to Mrs Findleton for a little while, whist she is on maternity leave. Miss Richardson who has been supporting in Team Calder all term will also be leaving us and we thank her for her commitment this term.
Next week will be a busy week in school and we know that children can become tired and a little unwell. Please reach out to us if you are unsure if your child is well enough to come to school, if it is a cough or a cold we can usually support children to be in school so that they will not miss the fun activities during the last week.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,
Mr Metcalfe or Mrs Danbury who are the safeguarding leads.
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
And please can children not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
We would also like to encourage parents and children to not cross roads where visibility is reduced and to make sure that all are looking before crossing roads.

Dear Parents and carers,
We’re nearly there! The Christmas holidays are just a week away and the children will be taking a well earned break. Part of your children’s down time over the holidays may involve the use of online devices or perhaps they’re getting some new technology for Christmas. Over the past few weeks we have spoken about the various apps that children have access to and how guidance on speaking to your child about their online use. One area to be aware of when children are online, especially when using social media is their online wellbeing.
They’re lots of apps out there that will support your child with their wellbeing. Below I have shared a link to the NSPCC website where they highlight lots of ways to support mental wellbeing in the online world. Please see the link below;

As always please come and speak to me if you have any worries.
Warm Regards
Mr Metcalfe
What's Cooking?
Team Foss and Team Esk have been in Cook School this week. Team Foss continued to make Christmas Tree Pittas and really enjoyed learning about avocado.. They learnt how to make a guacamole mix using a pestle and mortar. They also got the opportunity to use their cutting and chopping skills. Another well done to everyone in Team Foss, your enthusiasm and skills in Cooks School really were fantastic.
I also started working with Team Esk this week. They have had lots of fun making/decorating Christmas Stars and presents. They have learnt about basic hygiene and had the opportunity to experience art works with a food focus. They have showed excellent hand/eye coordination skills and produced some wonderful biscuits. They enjoyed eating their 'present' biscuit whilst listening to a Christmas story. Well done Team Esk, it has been a pleasure having you in Cook School this week. I will continue to welcome the rest of Team Esk into Cook School next week.

We all know that things can be a bit of a struggle at this time of year, so I just wanted to remind all our parents that you can email Mr Metcalfe and myself on the welfare email below and we can arrange for some food bank vouchers to be emailed to you to help over the Christmas period.
This is in the strictest confidence, you can then take the email to the food bank opposite the Posterngate Surgery and they will issue you with some shopping.
