Reception (Nidd & Swale)

Good afternoon, 

What an amazing week Team Nidd and Swale have had this week! We are so proud of how well all of the children did in our Nativity this week. We hope all of the grown ups that came enjoyed it as much as we did! 

This is what we will be looking at next week in English and Maths. The children will also continue to do daily phonics lessons and guided reading.

English - In English next week we will be continuing to look at sentence writing and exploring Christmas stories. We are also going to be making Christmas card and calendars. In phonics, we will be assessing what the children have learnt this half term. 

Maths - We will be looking at subitising and using the book Ten Black Dots to help us with this. 

There will be no PE between now and Christmas due to Nativity rehearsals. PE will continue to be on a Monday every week from January. 

Please send your child with their book bag on Friday as they will be bringing home a guided reading book, along with a picture book for them to read at home with you. The children will have all read the book three times with an adult in school so they will be eager to share it with you at home. We politely ask that these books are returned to school on the following Friday.

Next Friday the children will not bring a new guided reading book home due to the Christmas holidays. We will give them a new reading book to bring home on Friday 10th January.
