STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 26th June 2026
Dear Families
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your understanding regarding the changes we had to make this week due to the high temperatures. The children have demonstrated incredible resilience and patience; they have been an absolute joy to be around as they worked together to stay cool and safe.
In typical fashion, we are now expected to see a lot of rain! However, we are still hoping to go ahead with our revised sports days as planned.
On Monday and Tuesday next week, the children will be spending time in their new classes. We will post the class names on the doors and guide the children to where their team will be. We hope they thoroughly enjoy getting to know their new teachers and classmates!
I wish you a lovely weekend,
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,
Mrs Cowling or Ms Steunou who are the safeguarding leads.
We are an allergy aware school.
Nuts are prohibited on school site, and should not be put in children's packed lunches or brought in as a playtime snack.
Including school trips and events.
Thank you
Something very exciting is coming to Staynor Hall this half term – the very first Staynor Stars talent competition!
A few weeks ago, Miss Smith introduced the event during assembly, and you may already have spotted the posters displayed around school.
We would love to see our children showcasing their talents! Whether performing solo or as part of a group of up to five children, all acts are welcome. Singing, dancing, gymnastics, magic, comedy, playing a musical instrument, or any other special talent – if your child would like to take part, please encourage them to practise at home and take part in their class audition.
Each class will vote for a winning act, which will become their class representative. These finalists will then perform in a special parent showcase on Wednesday 1st July at 1:45pm.
The excitement will continue with the Grand Final on the afternoon of Thursday 2nd July, where the finalists will perform in front of the whole school and a panel of very special judges!
If you have any questions, please contact the Music Team via email.
We can't wait to discover the amazing talents of our Staynor Hall stars!
Thank you,
Miss Fawcett, Miss Smith, Miss Schofield and Mrs Lazenby
New Clothes Recycling Bin – Support Our School!
We’re excited to share that a new clothes recycling bin has been installed on the school grounds! This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, reduce waste, and support the school at the same time.
We encourage families to donate any unwanted clothing and shoes. Every item collected helps to raise valuable funds that go directly back into supporting school activities, resources, and opportunities for our children.
By using the recycling bin, you’re not only helping the environment by giving items a second life, but also contributing to the continued growth and success of our school.
Thank you for your ongoing support — every bag makes a difference!
What's Cooking?
This week I have been working with children from Team Loxley. They have been making a Greek Salad - which has timed perfectly with all this hot weather! They have had the opportunity to learn some interesting facts about Greece and the history of the Greek Salad. They have also learnt about where their food comes from with a particular focus on Feta Cheese and Olives. A globe was used to locate the countries/continents of the ingredients used and discussions were had regarding the seasonality of certain products.
The children had the opportunity to practise their chopping/slicing/cutting skills whilst preparing their ingredients. They also showed they were competent in using digital scales and measuring spoons. They have all done an amazing job and showed such determination. Well done to you all!
I will be working with Team Humber again next week, also making a Greek Salad.
Can I take this opportunity of encouraging you all to stay extra hydrated in this very warm weather. The children have done really well at school, draining their water bottles. For those children who prefer to turn to juice instead of water, please find below some easy ideas to encourage them to turn to water instead of their usual juice. I look forward to hearing about the brilliant concoctions they come up with!
ENCOURAGE NEW WAYS WITH WATER
Mix it up so your child is excited to reach for the water.
Have a selection of fruit suitable for infusing. Citrus fruits and berries are great as they give loads of flavour (bananas are not suitable so don’t use them!) You can also use herbs such as basil and mint, and cucumber also works really well.
Let your child choose and prepare the fruits to place into bottles or jugs of water. Encourage them to try the fruits in their natural state before adding them to the water.
Ask your child to compare the taste of the fruit to the infused water.
