Good afternoon,
It has been another busy week in LKS2! In English we did a shared write of our story before the children planned and wrote their own version. We also edited and improved our work and are ready to start our next independent write! In Maths, we started looking at improper fractions, sticking to quarters at first. We practiced being able to convert from an improper fraction to a mixed number. In our Creative Curriculum, we found out more about the Ancient Maya by using some of our Geography skills to locate where they were found, we learnt about ines of latitude and the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. In Science, we learnt about the life cycle of a flowering plant.
Coming up next week:
Transition is on Monday and Tuesday. Children will spend these days in their new teams.
Sports Day has been rearranged for next Friday.
English: Children will be starting their independent writes inspired by The Lighthouse Keeper.
Maths: We will be continuing looking at improper fractions.
PE Year 3 & 4: Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Wednesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
PSHE Year 3: To know the people who look after me, my networks and who to go to if I am worried about anything on or offline and how to attract their attention
PSHE Year 4: To know people who look after me, my networks and who to go to if I am worried about anything on or offline and how to attract their attention.
Homework:
Homework will be set on a Friday and is due the following Friday.
Reading: The children will be expected to read a minimum of 3 times a week, ideally to a grown-up. Please record this in their reading records and bring these into school.
Spelling: The children will be expected to play a minimum of 5 games of the set spelling rule on EdShed.
Maths: The children will have a task set on My Maths.
Children are expected to access TT Rockstars or timestables.co.uk a minimum of 3 times a week.
If children cannot access the internet at home, sheets can be requested for homework.
