Good afternoon,
We have had a busy week in LKS2 this week and the children are well and truly settled back into their school routine. In English this week we wrote our independent disaster stories as a chance for the children to show off the grammar features they have learnt this year on their own. The children have loved writing narratives so filled with action and we can’t wait to read their published pieces! In History, we looked at some of the amenities the Romans introduced to Britain, such as aqueducts, theatres and bathhouses. The children enjoyed learning about the changes in technology this period of history brought and looking at the links with our modern day life. We concluded our learning on forces and magnets by observing when magnets attract and repel. In PE we continued to enjoy our run, jump, throw unit. It is so useful to develop our skills to apply to different sports and physical activity!
Coming up next week:
Creative curriculum: Next week we will be looking at the question ‘How and why did the Romans leave Britain?’ Here we will look at this period of change in Britain and the reason for it. Both year groups will get to re-visit their Roman knowledge and look at daily life for a Roman in Britain on the upcoming visits to Murton Park.
English: We will be starting a new genre of writing looking at diaries.
Maths: We will continue our fractions learning and begin looking at non-unit fractions.
PE Year 3: Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Wednesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
PE Year 4: We go swimming on Wednesday. Children need to come to school in their uniform and bring their swimming kit in a bag. Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Friday.
PSHE Year 3: We will be starting our celebrating difference unit and will be learning to know that everyone’s family is different and important to them.
