STAYNOR HALL ACADEMY NEWSLETTER
Friday 10th October 2025
Dear Families
We are so proud of our children's achievements and this year we are having a particular focus on presentation of work across the curriculum. To celebrate this, each week we will be celebrating a child from each team and they will be given a 'Pride in Presentation' certificate. To celebrate the children we will be adding their names to the newsletters so that as a community we can all share in their achievements.
We continue to offer enrichment activities to our children throughout school and today children in Years 5 and 6 have been to Bagshaw museum. We rely heavily on you to ensure these visits can take place as the cost to transport children is so high. Please can I ask that wherever possible you contribute to the cost of your child's trip. We understand that it is not always possible to do this and we will always endeavour to support all of our families. We would like to continue to offer enrichment activities across the year whenever it is possible and fits with our curriculum.
Have a lovely weekend, with very best wishes
Mrs Winter

Apple AirTag and tracking children on school trips
it has been brought to our attention both locally and nationally that parents/carers are using devices such as the Apple AirTag to track children on school residentials/trips/visits/outings. Other devices can also include electronic watches that are essentially tracking devices with the capability of sending video footage from the device back to the person tracking i.e. parent. Such devices have the potential to post locations of children’s whereabouts on social media. We are therefore advising schools to include this in the consent slip which parents sign prior to taking part in a trip that such devices will not be allowed under any circumstances and must not be hidden in pockets/bags etc. If any tracking devices are found on pupils they will not be allowed on the trip and will be returned to school.
Apple have released the statement below which can be found on their website:
“AirTag was designed to help people locate their personal belongings, not to track people or another person’s property, and we condemn in the strongest possible terms any malicious use of our products”
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
Children are not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
Children are not play football on the field and playground before or after school.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
We would also like to encourage parents and children to not cross roads where visibility is reduced to ensure that roads are clear before crossing.

What's Cooking?
I have been working with children from Team Foss and Team Derwent this week. We have been making Leek and Potato Soup. The children have learnt about the origins of the potato and had the opportunity to use various skills including peeling, chopping and slicing. They have also learnt about seasonality and explored how potatoes and leeks grow.
The children were able to try their soup and also bring some of their soup home. We will also be donating some of our soup to Sleepsafe, a local charity that is very close to our heart.
Well done to all the children who have been to Cook School this week, you have all been amazing!
I will continue to work with Team Foss and Team Derwent next week.
