Dear Families
It has been a very busy and productive half term and it feels as though it has absolutely flown by!
The children in Y5 and Y6 visited a Mosque in Bradford this week and then went to spend time at our partner school, Horton Primary. The children had a wonderful time learning about Islam through their tour of the Mosque and then enjoyed participating in lots of team games with their friends from Horton Park. We will be lucky enough to have Horton Park children joining us at Staynor Hall next half term. We are immensely proud of our children, their conduct and the high level questions they were asking throughout the day were exemplary.
I hope you all have a lovely half term and we look forward to the children being back in school on Monday 2nd June.
With very best wishes
Mrs Winter
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child in school please contact myself,
Mr Metcalfe or Mrs Danbury who are the safeguarding leads.
Please can we ask that your child does not ride their bikes or scooters on the school grounds.
Children are not play on the wooden trim trail before and after school.
Children are not play football on the field and playground before or after school.
As the school continues to grow the playground is getting busier and busier and it is important we keep everyone safe.
We would also like to encourage parents and children to not cross roads where visibility is reduced to ensure that roads are clear before crossing.

Dear parents and carers,
An app has come to our attention called "Polybuzz". This is an app where you can interact with different AI (Artificial Intelligence) bots (characters). The app itself appears child friendly with lots of colourful bots (characters) that you can chat to. These are not real people that you interact with, but artificial intelligence bots that you can have conversations with. However, the content of what these bots can share can be highly inappropriate with language and content that is not suitable for children.
Please be aware of the different apps that your children have on their devices and ensure that these apps are age appropriate and child friendly.
Warm regards
Mr Metcalfe
What's Cooking?
Team Derwent have been in Cook School this week making a delicious chicken stew. They have had the opportunity to use a range of cooking techniques, primarily measuring, peeling, cutting, chopping and also using a hob. They all worked extremely hard and showed me that they already have such a good working knowledge of working safely and hygienically.
Several discussions were had relating to the ingredients we were using, particularly the potatoes and chicken. The children spent some time looking at the Eatwell Guide and were able to place a variety of foods into the relevant sections on the guide. The children also enjoyed learning about the seasonality of fruit and vegetables and decided that summer was definitely a great time for fruit because strawberries and raspberries grow really well.
Well done to all the children in Team Derwent, you have been brilliant this week. Your attitude to your learning is amazing and it has been wonderful working with you all.
I hope you all have a lovely week off next week and I look forward to working with Team Humber and Team Calder when we return for our final summer term. I have lots of wonderful things planned for you all!
