Good afternoon,
In English, we continued to write narratives inspired by an animation called ‘The Wishgranter’, using adverbs and adverbial phrases in our writing. This week has been learn through week and the children have been celebrating other cultures. We looked at comparing China, Africa, South America and The Mediterranean.
Coming up in this half term:
PE is changing to a Tuesday due to having the exciting opportunity of York Knights Rugby teaching the children rugby. PE days will now be Tuesday and Friday.
English: We will be continuing our narrative writing using varied sentence openers.
Creative curriculum: We will be starting our new topic ‘Were the Anglo Saxons better farmers or warriors?’. The first question we will be exploring is ‘Who were the Anglo Saxons?’
Maths: We will be continuing with our fractions unit and will be focusing on unit fractions.
Year 3 & 4 PE: Children need to come dressed in PE kit on Tuesday & Friday. Children need to wear a pair of plain black or navy blue jogging bottoms or shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a plain black or navy blue hoodie. Children need to wear suitable shoes for PE (trainers or plimsolls).
Year 3 PSHE: We will be moving onto our Sex Education unit. To know that in nature it is usually the female that carries the baby.
Year 4 PSHE: We will be moving onto our Sex Education unit. Next week we will focus on why menstruation happens in women once they reach puberty.
Homework:
Year 4: The Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check is coming up after half term. Over the half term break, please can you continue to practise times tables at home with your child. Asking them quick fire facts around the house, car journeys, TT rockstars and ‘Multiplication Tables Check’ on TimesTables.co.uk are great ways to practise these.
Year 3: We will be sending home an arithmetic pack for the children to keep practising their addition and subtraction.
Have a lovely half term and thank you for your continued support,
The LKS2 Team
