WEEKLY UPDATE
Good afternoon everyone,
We have had another lovely and busy week in Reception. The children have been learning all about spring and noticing the changes that come with the new season. During our time in the Forest School area, we went on a nature walk to look for signs of spring. The children enjoyed spotting things such as new buds and catkins on trees. They noticed flowers beginning to grow, and listening carefully to the sounds around them. It was wonderful to see their curiosity and excitement as they explored the outdoors.
In Maths, we have been focusing on number bonds to 10. The children have been using ten frames and counters to help them understand different ways to make 10. We have also been practising counting back from 10 and exploring part–part–whole, helping the children to see how numbers can be split into smaller parts and then put back together again.
In Phonics, the children are making fantastic progress. They are becoming much more confident at using their knowledge of digraphs to help them read and spell words. We are also encouraging them to use these skills to write short sentences independently. Thank you for all the support you are giving at home – it really does make a big difference to the children’s confidence and progress.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We hope you have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,
Reception Team
