Good afternoon,
This week we started a new History topic! We will be looking at the question ‘How did the Romans change Britain?’. The children enjoyed starting this unit with an introduction to what an empire is and seeing how far the Roman empire stretched. The children always love learning about different periods of history so are looking forward to delving into the Romans! Please find below a word bank of topic vocabulary that we wanted to share incase it supports your children’s learning at home as well. We also started a new genre of writing to go with this unit and are now writing ‘disaster stories’ which are narratives packed with action! This week we wrote the beginning of a story about a gladiator fight, set in the middle of an amphitheatre and focused on our sentence openers. We had fun bringing the atmosphere to the classroom and thinking about the tension we could create for our reader. It was lovely to enjoy a Science day on Thursday to celebrate British Science Week and relish the opportunity to explore our curiosity!
Coming up next week:
