Good afternoon,
We have had a fantastic week this week. We have created fantastic pieces of writing based on 'How to make a fruit salad.' It has been British Science Week this week and we have had a lot of fun creating different styles of paper aeroplanes and investigating which ones will fly the furthest and why.
Reminders next week -
Monday - Parents evening
Tuesday - Non uniform in exchange for chocolate for the Easter Bingo held at the Community Centre.
Thursday - Easter Bingo at the Community Centre
In Maths, Year 1 will be continuing to look at addition and subtraction with a focus on the inverse equations.
In Year 2 we are looking at subtraction based on 2 digit numbers.
In Writing, we will be writing our own independent write of a set of instructions all about 'How to make a jam sandwich.' On Monday the children will need to give very clear instructions to their teachers of how to make one - it could get messy!
Changing books:
To support with reading in school we are changing the day we are sending new books home. Please can book bags and reading records be sent to school on THURSDAYS.
REMINDERS:
This half term, our PE days will be Monday and Friday.
HOMEWORK:
Your children will bring home their reading books on Thursday. We ask that you read with your child 3x a week and write in their reading records each time you read.
The children who have read 3x, will be giving a raffle ticket to be in with a chance to win a prize.
We know reading is essential for your child/ren and we thank your support with this.
Every Friday, Year 1 will now be bringing home a phonics home learning sheet looking at sounds that we have covered throughout the week. Any extra practise would really support your children's reading journey.
For Year 2, we would like them to practise their additive facts to support addition and subtraction, they will be coming home with a sheet to help with this today.
Below is a list of KS1 common exceptions words. These are a list of words that the children need to be able to read and write - although this isn't homework as such, it may be useful to practice these at home. Across Key Stage 1 we are working really hard to improve spelling and handwriting so any support with this at home would be greatly appreciated.
Any questions, please come and ask us.
Thank you for your continued support,
Team KS1
