Good afternoon,
What a busy final week of the half term it has been! The children have shown incredible determination, drive and resilience towards tackling their challenge papers this week and we are so proud of them! They have also edited and published their independent non chronological reports about Polish food - they look brilliant and will be really informative to people wanting to learn more about Polish culture! We also started our new Science unit looking at forces! We are becoming toyologists and in this role we look forward to completing some different tasks towards our toyologist qualifications! The teams have worked really hard this half term and we hope they have a lovely, restful holiday.
Reminders for the first week back:
LKS2 have a DT Day on the first Monday morning and all day Tuesday when we return. We will be making pulley mechanisms to raise a church bell in a toy to be sold in the toy store in our Guided Reading text. Please can all children bring in a cardboard box to be the base of their church. Something tissue box sized would be good or a cereal box sized delivery box. Due to allergies in our phase it would be best if boxes had not contained any food products to reduce the risk of a reaction.
Coming up in our creative curriculum:
Year 3 and 4 will be very busy with two days of a DT project, where the children will be designing and making a mechanical pulley.
Year 3 and 4 will also take part in an Art day, where the children will be exploring printing methods to create Pisanki Eggs, which are a Polish tradition during Easter.
Maths: Off the back of our challenge papers, we will be practising some key skills to strengthen our knowledge of previously taught maths content.
English: Off the back of our challenge papers, we will be practising some key skills to strengthen our knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar rules.
PSHE Y3: We are beginning our new unit ‘Healthy me’, we will focus this week on the objective ‘being fit and healthy’.
PSHE Y4: We are beginning our new unit ‘Healthy me’, the week we will focus on friendships; ‘My friends and me’.
Homework:
As it is half term, we want the children to enjoy their down time and spending time with their families so homework will not be set this week. Homework will resume from Friday 27th February and will be due 6th March.
Don’t forget to keep checking Instagram to see what learning we have been up to!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
Have a lovely half term break with your families! We look forward to seeing you on Monday 23rd February!
