Good afternoon,
What a busy half term we have had! The children have learnt so much about life in the 1960s, we hope they have been sharing all of their amazing knowledge with you at home. This week they have used this knowledge to create some amazing non-chronological reports. We are so proud of the hard work they have put into these!
After half term
In Maths, Year 1 will be continuing with addition and being introduced to number bonds to 10.
In Year 2 ,we will be beginning to look at strategies for adding and subtracting two 2 digit numbers.
In Writing, we will be looking at how to write instructions and looking at the text Oliver's vegetables.
Changing books:
To support with reading in school we are changing the day we are sending new books home. Please can book bags and reading records be sent to school on THURSDAYS.
REMINDERS:
After the half term holiday, our PE days will be Monday and Friday.
HOMEWORK:
Your children will bring home their reading books on Thursday. We ask that you read with your child 3x a week and write in their reading records each time you read.
The children who have read 3x, will be giving a raffle ticket to be in with a chance to win a prize.
We know reading is essential for your child/ren and we thank your support with this.
Every Friday, Year 1 will now be bringing home a phonics home learning sheet looking at sounds that we have covered throughout the week. Any extra practise would really support your children's reading journey.
For Year 2, we would like them to practise their additive facts to support addition and subtration, they will be coming home with a sheet to help with this today.
Below is a list of KS1 common exceptions words. These are a list of words that the children need to be able to read and write - although this isn't homework as such, it may be useful to practice these at home. Across Key Stage 1 we are working really hard to improve spelling and handwriting so any support with this at home would be greatly appreciated.
Any questions, please come and ask us.
Thank you for your continued support, we hope you have a lovely half term break.
