Good afternoon,
We have had another great week in school this week. The children in Year 1 have showed us all their amazing learning in their challenge papers and all the children in KS1 have been role models to the school around how to 'Sit Like A Star'.
In Maths, Year 1 will be consolidating any gaps that have arisen from their challenge papers this week. This will focus on place value, addition and subtraction and shape.
In Year 2 ,we are continuing to recap learning of addition and subtraction strategies using efficient methods.
In Writing, the children will be writing and publishing their non chronological reports on the 1960s. We are so excited to see all of their learning puleed together and hope to be able to display some of this around school.
Changing books:
To support with reading in school we are changing the day we are sending new books home. Please can book bags and reading records be sent to school on THURSDAYS.
REMINDERS:
For Spring 2, our PE days will be Monday and Friday.
HOMEWORK:
Your children will bring home their reading books on Thursday. We ask that you read with your child 3x a week and write in their reading records each time you read.
The children who have read 3x, will be giving a raffle ticket to be in with a chance to win a prize.
We know reading is essential for your child/ren and we thank your support with this.
Below is a list of KS1 common exceptions words. These are a list of words that the children need to be able to read and write - although this isn't homework as such, it may be useful to practice these at home. Across Key Stage 1 we are working really hard to improve spelling and handwriting so any support with this at home would be greatly appreciated.
Any questions, please come and ask us.
Thank you,
Team KS1
