WEEKLY UPDATE
Good afternoon,
The children have had a wonderful first week back, and it has been lovely to see how quickly they have settled back into routines. They have really enjoyed learning about non-fiction texts and discovering how to use a contents page and headings to find information. We have been reading a non-fiction book all about the North Pole and learning about the animals and people who live in the Arctic.
In phonics, we have been learning the digraphs ‘ai’, ‘ee’ and ‘igh’. We will continue to learn one digraph every two days, as this gives the children time to practise recognising and using the sounds confidently in their reading and writing.
In maths, we have been recapping our work on AB patterns and learning how to make ABC patterns. An ABC pattern is a repeating pattern with three parts, for example: red, blue, yellow, red, blue, yellow.
Next week, we will continue learning about the Arctic and will use the information we have gathered to help us write a simple sentence.
Please find information about our phonics learning below. We will also upload this onto Tapestry alongside some additional word cards with our focused digraphs to practise at home. Thank you for your continued support at home — it really does make a big difference to the children’s learning.
Have a great weekend!
